Worldwide one in three women and one in five men over 50 will suffer from an osteoporotic fracture. Those fractures can be a major cause of pain, lead to long term disability, and can even be life threatening. Throughout life, old bone is constantly removed (resorption) and replaced by new bone (formation). This continual process is essential for the maintenance of healthy bone mass and micro-architecture. Accelerated bone mass resorption can occur to women in postmenopausal years. Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone density and reduced structural strength of the bone, leading to increased risk of bone fracture.
Because standard health care providers perform such examinations only when the condition is advanced as symptoms are visible, people who strive for a healthy lifestyle and want to avoid illness and diseases are dependent on laboratories like ours.
The laboratory provides blood sampling on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8am to 11am.
Appointments can be booked by calling to the reception 040 – 506 4497 (on weekdays from 9am to 3pm) or at anytime using our online calendar reservation system.
